RESEARCH:
Validation of Oceanic Transport Phenomena
Background: If oceanic transport can be accurately predicted, plastic in the ocean be tracked for future removal.
Goal: Investigate the statistical verification of the current transit matrix approach of predicting oceanic transport. Analyze the effects of time intervals, seasonality, and the assumption of time independence.
Result: Seasonality and time dependence must be considered for accuracy.
